Discover how Trespasser Awakening came about

1998 - I bought Trespasser â€‹with my own allowance and it was the first game I ever owned. However, all I had was a really old Windows 95 machine and so it wasn't until a few years later that I could actually play it. Trespasser has remained one of my favourite games of all time and I still play it on a regular basis.

2001/2002 - The fifth generation of home consoles played a fundamental role in my teens, but when the PS2, the Gamecube and the Xbox rolled out, I completely lost interest. I slowly transitioned into adulthood and time spent together with friends playing Nintendo got replaced by a stressful job. I never enjoyed playing alone and so I didn't keep up with it anymore.

2009/ 2010 - After a break from gaming for nearly a decade, I bought a copy of Microsoft's Flight Simulator FSX. Very soon, however, I realised that I enjoyed moding the game more than actually playing it. So, I decided to create a mod with missions that included dinosaurs. The project ultimately failed and until today only a single video of the project survives, showing a raptor with a walking animation I had managed to import into the game.

2020 - Another decade later, I decided to learn how to use Unity. Apart from moding the FSX, I had no prior experience in game development and coding. The first "game" I created actually turned out to be more of a 3d simulated environment (you can play it here). Very little coding was done, mostly because I had a very hard time understanding how to write scripts.

2021 - After watching Kim Justice's documentary on Trespasser in May, I decided to use my newly acquired experience with Unity to try creating a remake of the game. My first test included just a single level with some dinosaurs to check if I get the AI to work. Over the course of the next months, I continued to build the game and finally even started to understand scripting and C#, so that today I can create my very own scripts from a blank document.
